Because Vista isn't XP for a start.

oh how droll, ask a question get a really pleb answer. So I suppose Microsoft have designed a new OS that doesn't integrate with previous versions, I should have known, oh silly me. Microsoft thought that they would write a completely new os and didn't tell any of the rest of the software developers, how remiss of them...... I don't think so...................anyway Conor, enjoy being a grumpy old shit.....oops sorry there was another thing that vista does......... deletes words......... xp wouldn't do that "Conor" wrote in message

many people have had downloads dissapear entirely. I had a Vista x64 ISO dissapear, and the only place I could find it was in a "Save As" dialog box. it had the attribute "N", which apparently hid it from all other parts of windows, even windows XP. I deleted the ISO through the dialog box, to free up 4GB of hard drive space.

figure it out. you need to turn off protected mode in internet explorer. the files you have already downloaded are in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Virtualized\C\Users\Username\Documents (or Desktop, or wherever you saved it.)

That sounds right. The Internet Zone is always an untrusted zone so any files downloaded are sandboxed.

good idea for security, but the average user is going to be upset when they can't find the 4GB file they just spent hours (or days) downloading.

if you have that option turned on. I think it's turned off by default, and I normally have it turned off.
